House or Apartment?

When it comes to living, there are two types of people: those who prefer to live in an apartment – and those who prefer to live in a house. But which option is the right one? Well… none – and both. Because in the end, this depends purely on your own personal preference. Can’t get out? No problem: we list the advantages of both!

Living in an apartment?

Space

The ‘biggest’ disadvantage of apartment living is the limited space: it is (usually, anyway) considerably smaller than a house. Yet with the right interior, you can make a small space look so much bigger! Choose the right colors and materials and/or opt for furniture that is integrated into the walls. A small apartment is an ultimate excuse to let that creative spirit run wild!

Location

Do you also think it is important to live in a prime location, preferably close to a city center? Then you usually have a better chance if you opt for an apartment. Not only are there more of them, but they are probably a lot cheaper than a house in the city center!

Neighbors

When you live in an apartment, you have insurmountable neighbors. Some do not always find this pleasant, so they are more likely to opt for a house. Still, neighbors are usually an advantage, at least when you put a little effort into maintaining a polite relationship. So you can always contact them when you lack that one egg … And neighbors can also add value in terms of safety: with so many extra pairs of eyes, the chance is smaller than someone sneaks in unnoticed!

Space

A house brings (generally speaking) more space with it, which offers more opportunities to invite people and/or if you want a large family. Certainly, a large garden and an extra bedroom (or two) is useful if you like to have friends over the floor regularly! Of course, there is also a downside to this coin: all this extra space must of course also be polished. No worries! There are also solutions such as

Parking

We all hate it: looking for parking after a long working day. When you live in an apartment, chances are that you often search in vain for a place due to the large number of people living in one building. When you have a house, it is more likely that you have your own garage and/or driveway where you can park your car. Another stress factor less!

Privacy

In general, we can say that you have more privacy in a house than in an apartment. Moreover, you have no neighbors right next to, above, or below you that you have to take into account when you bring up that surround system. Let those speakers pop!

So you see: whether a house or an apartment is ‘better than the other … It is difficult to say: after all, much depends on your personal preferences and general lifestyle.
