What requirements should have a good website?

what requirements should have a good website

Many companies play with this question. What should you keep in mind when getting started with a new website? One of the most important things is to determine what goal you want to achieve with your website. Do you want to sell more products, get in touch with new customers or inform visitors?

In addition to the purpose, there are a number of other characteristics that successful websites meet. These are partly technical features. On the other hand, you also have to deal with taste: does your target group like the website? When we look at successful websites, we always see a number of elements. Does your website meet these characteristics?

1. Findability

Every day we perform about 3.5 billion searches on Google. So it’s important that you appear among those search results, even if your target audience may have never heard of your company.

For example, when someone searches for ‘Marketing Agency in India’, we want to appear on the first page of the search results. By processing the right keywords on your website and, for example, in blogs, you have a good chance that you will become easier to find. The result: more leads and customers.

2. Speed

Do you know that? You open a website and you have to wait two minutes for it to load completely? Probably not… most visitors give up after three seconds.

That is already an important reason to have (and keep) a fast website.

In addition, speed affects your findability. Google thinks fast websites are very important. Your position on the search results page, the ranking, therefore also depends on the speed. Are you curious how fast your website is? You can measure this with Google Pagespeed. The elements that have a lot of loading time cry out for optimization.

3. User-friendliness

Of course, you have already thought of what steps the visitor of your website must take to eventually convert. Such as purchasing something, requesting, or leaving information. Not? Then it is high time! Do you want the visitors of the homepage, for example, to go to the product page and then check out? Then you have to make that path, the ‘customer journey’ as clear as possible for the user. You don’t want them to get lost. The more user-friendly and SEO friendly of your website make the easier the user will find his way.

You can compare it with the walking route of a supermarket. It seems random, but it’s well thought out. It doesn’t matter what’s on your list, the route will take you past all the shelves in the store.

And of course, the website must also be user-friendly at the back. It shouldn’t be a task to log in and spend hours on a small adjustment. That is why it is very important to choose a well-fitting CMS (Content Management System).

4. Use of Color

The colors you use on the website are often aligned with the general house style. This way everything stays nicely in line and you get the right look. So nothing is right or wrong, as long as it matches the corporate identity and the product/service. With one customer we go for vibrant colors and with another, we opt for sleek and fresh. It is about the right balance of colors so that the visitor does not experience it as annoying. In any case, make sure you have enough white. This way you keep it nice and quiet and that is pleasant for the user.

5. Buttons

Buttons are very important. They may even determine the route of your website visitors. Think back to that user-friendliness. If you want to lead the visitor from your homepage to the payment page via the product page, you can use buttons for this, among other things.

6. Content

How do you keep visitors coming back to your website? Right, by regularly offering them new content. That can of course be anything. Like us, you can occasionally post a new blog article. But you can also choose to offer a whitepaper or podcast once in a while. Here you share your knowledge, with which you continue to entice visitors to come back. I recommend developing a content strategy for the use of the content on your website.

7. Responsive / Mobile Friendly

This is a must these days. Responsive websites and websites that are mobile-friendly are websites that adapt to the screen size it is viewed on. This way it works on smartphones, tablets, and laptops and you don’t have to build a different website for each device. All websites we build are responsive by default. Check out this article on your phone (if you don’t already).

8. Moving picture

A picture paints a thousand words. Moving images have also been used more and more recently. You see more and more videos on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube are all about video. That is why we also believe that moving images, such as video or animation, are an enrichment for a website. You get the message across faster this way.

These are some characteristics of successful websites. Do you recognize your website in this?
