Spring: countless reasons to look forward to spring
Although we love all seasons at Special Place, spring season has a magical effect on us. Maybe it’s because of a new beginning after a long hibernation ?! Every new beginning brings a nice tension. Each opening button is a starting shot for a season full of moments of enjoyment. We give you 40 reasons why spring season is so much fun. To enjoy even more and for even more spring fever.
1. Longer Light: There is light at the end of the dark winter tunnel. The lamp no longer needs to be turned on at 4 pm and it is still light when you get home from work. What a party!
2. New clothes: In spring season you can see people arriving from afar wearing new clothes. Because they look stylish, of course. But also because they combine that new pink flower blouse so nicely with that much too thick winter coat. Can’t wait to wear your new clothes too?
3. DIY in the garden: Whether you have a large garden, a small city garden, or a balcony, spring is the perfect time to decorate it with fun lanterns (solar-powered) and brightly colored plants.
4. Young ducks: One small down in the ditch does not make spring season, of course. But oh they are so cute!
5. With, without a jacket: “Mamaaaaa; can I go to school without a coat? ” Recognizable? At the first rays of the sun, children walk like it is high summer. But hey, we can’t blame them. Wouldn’t we also prefer to throw off all those thick layers and play outside ?!
6. Playing outside: Yes, that! Finally outside again. Turn off the computer and television and hop outside with those pale faces!
7. Skirt Day: It takes some preparation before we hit the streets with those pale stilts. But once the time has come…. Yoohoo !!
8. Egg: An egg is included. In the Easter branches, with breakfast or chocolate with tea.
9. Spring cleaning: Cleaning is not really a hobby, but under the influence of spring fever, we too, armed with cleaning cloths and feather duster, tackle the winter dust.
10. Lambs: They are born very early in the spring. Many farms have special cuddle days in the spring. 5x pet lambs.
11. Green: Our favorite spring color.
12: Dry laundry outside: No detergent can compete with the smell of laundry that has been line-dried outside. No place on your balcony? Cycle around the countryside. Next to every farm, you see a tightly stretched line with flowing laundry. Good for an instant spring feeling.
13. Sun: Everyone will steal from that, right ?!
14. Warm: We can watch that temperature rise! Because of how bright you are from those first warm rays that warm your skin and heart.
15. Terrace: A party every year; the first terrace of the year. We actually think that there should be a national holiday for this. Hurray, it’s terrace day!
16. Rose: And of course, you celebrate that with a glass of rosé! The light stimulus on your tongue, the tinkling of the ice cubes in your glass, and the soft pink color. Cheers to spring!
17. White beer: That other nice drink to celebrate spring with.
18. Vegetable garden: We don’t have green fingers ourselves. But we can enjoy people preparing their vegetable garden for a fertile season in early spring season. From the first seeds in the ground to the first harvest. We secretly take a walk along the allotments to enjoy this euphoria a bit.
19. Flowers: The green tips bravely struggling through the frozen ground tell you that spring is really coming. It will not be long before you can enjoy the colorful spring flowers. 10x tours and walks along with bulbs and flowers.
20. Bees: And the bees also come with those flowers. They fly back and forth. They also suffer from spring fever. Their hum is the ultimate spring symphony.
21. Watching clouds: Nothing as Dutch as the skies. Lie on your back in the grass and name the shapes you see in the clouds.
22. Picnics: No sandwich at the computer, in the spring you just walk outside during lunch. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate lunch on a blanket. A bench in the street and a cheese sandwich pass for a picnic. The effect is in any case the same; you get so much energy from it!
23. Wake up when the birds are already chirping: It is a lot easier to get up when you hear happy sounds around you instead of it still being pitch dark.
24. Tea gardens open: Those wonderfully hidden places that open their garden gates again so that you and I can enjoy nature waking up from hibernation with a warm cup of tea.
25. Blossom: The confetti to celebrate the party called spring. In Amsterdam, there is even a complete festival dedicated to this ‘ spring snow ‘.
26. Visit a picking garden: Pick beautiful flowers with family, friends, or the children. Or how about a visit to the special cherry flower park in Amsterdamse Bos? Keep an eye on when the trees are in bloom!
27. Other fruits: Daahaaag banana, kiwi, and apple. Time for the berries, strawberries, nectarines, and other delicious spring fruits.
28. Homemade ice creams: Puree your favorite fruit, pour the mixture into an ice mold and freeze.

30. Reading in the garden: Speaking of reading: enjoy a spring book in the garden or on your balcony; in the spring it is possible again!
31. Outdoor sports: After months on the treadmill or by bike in the gym, you can sport outside again in the spring.
32. Sidewalk chalk! A box of chalk guarantees hours of fun on the sidewalk: How about giving each stone a different color? Or draw a bunch of balloons on the floor, lie down next to it and take a cool photo!
33. Extra days off: Spring is full of extra days off. Good Friday, Pentecost, King’s Day.
34. Boating, drinking tea: Rent an electric boat to sail through the canals of Amsterdam or go into the country and visit one of the many beautiful tea gardens by boat.
35. Sleeping with the windows open: Fresh air all night long ensures a fresh home and head when you wake up.
36. King’s Day! Need we say more? A big cozy orange bunch: A day when you buy more than sell and drink a beer at 11 in the morning.
37. Sleeping in a beach house: Halfway through spring, the houses can go back to the beach and we can enjoy the sound of the sea again when we wake up. One of the many reasons why sleeping by the sea is so much fun.
38. Wear open shoes: Maybe cold in the morning, but oh-so-beautiful for the rest of the day!
39. Blowing dandelions: It’s always fun to see the fluff swirling around!
40. Singing (or kissing) in the rain: It is and remains the Netherlands, so even in the spring, there is sometimes a heavy shower. But fortunately, it is not that cold anymore and therefore perfect for dancing, singing or kissing outside in the rain!
