Tadiandamol Trek- Overview
Tadiandamol peak is the highest peak in Coorg district and the third highest in Karnataka. The peak is standing at a height of 5740 feet above sea level. This is one of the most famous trekking destinations among the tourists in Karnataka as well as in the Western Ghats. The trek comes under the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary of the Bhagamandala Range Forests, which offers magnificent views of the valleys, water bodies, Shola forest and lush green vegetation. Apart from these, one will be able to witness the sights of colourful birds and butterflies. Trekking along this place will definitely test the patience of a hiker even if he is experienced, as trekking in the forest and the final section might seem to be difficult due to slippery on the way especially, during the monsoon. Thus, the trek is graded as moderate in its difficulty level. The starting point of this trek is the Nalknad Palace which is situated at the foothills of this peak. This 200 years old palace is said to be built during the year of 1792.

Tadiandamol Trek- Best time to visit
Tadiandamol trek can be done any time throughout the year. However, the best time is from the month of September to February, which is post monsoon. The place receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon and the routes become more slippery and get more strenuous for a trekker to hike. On the other hand summer has a high probability of wildfires and hence trekking is not allowed towards the Tadiandamol summit.

By Air
Nearest airhead to Tadiandamol is Mysore, Kakkabe which is 130 km away from this place.
By Train
The nearest railway station is at Mysore which is 90 km away from Virajpet. From there one can take private and state operated buses. One can also opt for local jeeps and auto but those are available only during the day time.
By Road
Various private and government buses are available from Bangalore and Mangalore towards Tadiandamol. Buses are available every 30 minutes and it takes approximately 6 hours and 4 hours from Bangalore and Mangalore respectively to reach Kakkabe.

1.Stupendous views of the green rolling hills
Being the tallest peak in the entire Coorg region the trek offers some breathtaking views of the surroundings from its summit. One will definitely get the mesmerizing views of the green hills from all sides. But this view is not clear especially during monsoon and after the monsoon as the entire region remains covered with the monsoon clouds. Visiting this place before summer is the ideal time to get the view.
2.Hiking through the beautiful and evergreen Shola forests
In the high mountain region, Shola forests are incredible tropical forests located in the middle of the rolling grasslands. The forest is rich in various flora and fauna. One will definitely get to notice coffee estates and pepper plantations throughout the stretch and also Betelnut trees, Nutmeg trees, fishtail palms etc. The place is also home to many wildlife which includes millipedes, calotes versicolor lizards and leeches if anybody opt for the monsoon trek.
3.Photography session
The place is also the photographer’s paradise as trekking along this mountain peak is a delight to every photographer. For an ardent photographer panoramic views of the valleys, coffee plantation, green foliage all produce wonderful pictures.
4.Nalknad Palace
Situated in the district of Coorg the Nalknad Palace is one of the gems of Karnataka. The palace lies at the base of the Tadiandamol peak. The palace was built between 1792 AD to 1794 AD. The place also serves as the base camp for the trek to Tadiandamol peak and also the finer details and complex artwork will keep the tourists trapped for a long time.
5.Chelavara Falls
Another place to visit near the Tadiandamol peak is the Chelavara Falls which is located 16 km away from the central city of Virajpet. The falls is said to be formed by a tributary of river Kaveri and this place is a scenic pleasure for the tourists. On a rock shaped like a tortoise, these strong falls gush down from a height of 150 feet. The water of this fall is 100 feet deep and dangerous, so one must avoid taking a dip into water as the place witnessed many fatalities before.
6.Kubbe Hills
Kubbe Hill is another well-known spot in Coorg. The spot is located 22 km from Virajpet. This is a must visit place during your holiday. The place showcases numerous coffee plantations, several lush paddy fields and the picturesque Western Ghats.
